P.S. Happy birthday to Jayan, Lina, Jimmy, Naren uncle, Arunmama, Alpa, and anyone else with a birthday this month.

Happy Holidays, everyone! In addressing our Christmas cards, I've noticed the I have all addresses of my mom's & dad's siblings and their cousins, but only a handful of my own cousins (probably only the ones that are 35+). Oh, and Puja& Vinod's. And Charul & Parth's. Heck, I'm so old I don't really know who is 35+ OR 35-. If you want our annual Christmas letter, email me your postal address (spfernandes@bex.net). We'll be home in Perrysburg over the holidays. You're welcome to drop by! Love, Shaila

My Life Update :)
SO, I have some excited news to share with everyone... no I'm not pregnant...
But, I have accepted a position back at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta. YAY. Justin and I are moving to Atlanta (again) some time in the next month. I start sometime in mid-December - I'm actually part of the gainfully employed again. I am so happy I quit and moved home a year ago, but I am definitely glad to be working soon again. I think Dad is probably the most excited - I'm sure he's tired of seeing me sit around the house with nothing to do!!
What are everyone's plans for the holidays? Anything exciting?
Dad, Roopal, Justin and I had a great time in India (for those of you wondering). We travelled to Karnataka and briefly to Kerala for about 8 days. We went to Coorg, Kabini, Vythri, and Mysore. The places we stayed were mostly "wildlife" resorts. We stayed at coffee plantation in Coorg; the location was quite impressive, in the middle of a forest. Our resort in Kabini was right on the Kabini river, across from two national forests. In Kabini we saw a vast variety of wildlife including various species of birds, monkeys, deer, sambhar, and WILD ELEPHANTS! We even got chased by a wild elephant during our jeep safari. It was all very exciting. Vythri was on a "hill station" in the middle of a rain forest. We had to brave leeches and monkeys at the resort, but it was definitely a beautiful place. And, last but not least, Mysore was a very neat city with a good bit of history. I highly recommend going to Kabini if anyone has the chance. It was my favorite because of all the animals we got to see.
Hopefully I will have the pics of India posted on Picasa soon to share with everyone.
Oh - and I'll soon be posted about the first ever 2009 AMIN FAMILY RACE TO GET FIT competition/event. Tinu Kaka, Satish Kaka, Mina Kaki, and Dad all agreed to this scheme of roopal and mine so I hope all the other Amin Family members will join in on the fun! Keep an eye on the blog this week for all the details.....

Off to India!
Maan, it's been a long time since anyone's blogged on here for something other than birthday's!!! I hope everyone is doing well.
Dad, Roopal, Justin, and I are off to India on Sunday! Roopal, Justin, and I will be gone till November 2nd; we'll be back just in time to vote!!! GOO RON PAUL. Yeah, you heard me right. I'm writing in my vote. Don't hate me cause I'm smart :). If you don't know who Ron Paul is, I suggest you look him up. OK - enough of my political plug.
While we're in India, we're planning on taking a little vacation to South India. We'll be going to Kotai Canal, Ooty, and Monsoor (hopefully I spelled those correctly). I've never been to the South, so I'm definitely looking forward to it. We'll also get a chance to see Mama while we're in Baroda which is also something to look forward to.
If any one needs to get in touch with us, we'll have some internet connection, since Justin has hooked himself up with a nifty little computer and some sort of web connectivity. Unfortunately, while the rest of us are admiring the breath taking views of the Baroda (or what is now known as Vadodara), Justin will be staring at ml-implode.com!! I'm secretly hoping the internet is spotty at best, so he has an excuse not to work!
We'll post pics as soon as we get back. Hope everyone has a great October - and happy early birthday to all you October babies (Neil, Neema, Siddarth Fua, Sugat, and my favorite of all the October babies - KETAN!!!).
love,
Sonal

Happy Birthday Manju Foi!
Honeymoon
All,
Parth and I are back from our wonderful honeymoon in Greece. If you haven't been, you should look into travelling there one day. We visited Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini. They are all such beautiful spots, and the food was fabulous! I've loaded my pictures so I will post them soon.
Love,
Charul

Puja on TV
For those of you who don't know, Puja will be making her television debut this fall (not including the Rachel Ray show she was on last year). Puja can be seen on the upcoming season of Ugly Betty (thurs 8pm, I believe starting on 9/25/08), the 5th and 6th episode of Gossip Girls(the second episode just aired), and on an episode of Without a Trace. She also filmed for the season finale of Entourage.

Blogging Tips Continued
Hey all,
I saw Charul's Blogging Tips post and thought that I needed to clarify a few things - sorry I wasn't clear from the start!!
In order to be able to blog, I need to send you an invitation to blog on the site. For me to "grant" you permissions, I need your email address that you will be using to blog. After you give this to me, you should get an email from blogger telling you that you are now invited to blog on the site. After you receive that email, you will need to create a username and password on blogger. Only then can you start blogging on the site. You can sign in via the "Sign In" link on the top bar on this page (it is on the top right hand corner).
If you still are not able to blog, let me know and I'll try to research and get back to you. If someone else also wants to have "admin" privileges, let me know and I can do that as well. This basically means that you have the ability to add more people to blog, moderate comments, edit posts that are not written by you :), etc.
In order to post pics the way that Lina and I did in previous posts, follow these instructions:
1) Sign up for Picasa (it is free)
2) Upload your pictures to Picasa
3) After you upload your album, you should see a link on the left hand side of your album that says something along the lines of: "LINK THIS ALBUM". Click on that and then copy the coding under "HTML to embed in website".
4) In your blog post, copy this HTML into the post that you are creating.
I hope this helps - let me know if you all have any other questions!!
UPDATE 8/11:
I have realized that only the admins have the right to update the layout of this site. This means that the admins are the only ones who can update the birthday's in the gray area (right side) as that is a "layout" option I have created. So, if you can just send me your and your children's/significant other's birthdays, I will make sure it is listed on the right side. Also..I'm still waiting on other admin volunteers :)!!!

Getting Started/Blog Tips
It's funny that I'm writing "tips" considering this is the first blog I've particpated on. If you "blog gurus" (i.e. Justin) have additional tips, please advise! My tips are very basic and will help with getting started.
To become listed as a "contributor" to this blog, you will need to log in with a username (email address) and password. I used my gmail account address and password, I'm not sure if you have to have a gmail address or if any email address works? Maybe someone else knows??
Once a contributor, your name will be listed on the right panel. You'll also be able to create new posts and make edits to other items on the right panel (e.g. Birthdays), but you'll need to be logged in to do so.
And that's it...I don't know anything really cool are fancy. :o)

Callaway Gardens
Hello again!
Sonal, this posting is for you! I know you would like for us all to be very active on this blog. :o)
Parth and I got a late start to Callaway Gardens this past Saturday. The man who came to his to buy his family room couch was an hour late. But hey, it sold quickly and it's one less thing for us to worry about! We still managed to get to Callaway in time to grab dinner before all the restaurants closed. They close at 9pm - so early! The whole place is pretty much dead after 9pm so we rented Mr. Woodcock (good laughs) and sipped on Trader Joe wine. :o) We made the most of our day on Sunday - breakfast buffet at the hotel, birds of prey show, biked 13 miles, played shuffleboard (I won), played mini golf (I won), sat on the beach, watched the FSU circus and ate lots of junk food. I'll post my pictures by the end of the week. They aren't very exciting, though...either I'm taking a photo of Parth or vice versa.
Our next trip will be our honeymoon in Greece. We leave on 9/6 and return on 9/14.

Camping
So Roopal and I leave on what is going to be my very FIRST camping trip on Wednesday. We are driving up to Summersville, WV to go camping with many of my girl cousins from mom's side (Sheetal, Tejal, Kavina, Ayesha, and Jasmine). I'll be honest, I'm a bit nervous. Mosquitos, high heat indexes, chances of thunderstorms, bugs, public restrooms are just a few of the reasons for my angst. However, I am looking forward to spending time with the girls, and creating some interesting memories.
Kavina has a tent which will fit 8 people; this tent is supposed to be our refuge from bugs, beasts, heat, rain, and all other possible outdoor threats. People do this tent thing all the time and come out ok, right?
I made a comprehensive spreadsheet (probably similar to Charul's wedding spreadsheet), with three tabs of different items to bring. There was a food tab (listing out all the meals and items we would require in order to survive our outdoor adventure), camping equipment tab (listing out all the non-food items we woud need, including cooking supplies, hygiene products, games, lighting equipment, sleeping items, etc), and a recipe tab (in case we forget how to make our delicious meals outlined in tab 1). I was quite proud of this spreadsheet. I had done google searches on camping, camping equipment, recipe ideas, etc. I excitedly sent out this spreadsheet to all the girls coming on the trip, half expecting a few accolades, specifically regarding the thoroughness of which I completed this task.
This morning I wake up to an email from Kavina that basically said "Nice try but this is too much stuff. Neilam and I are laughing our butts off. Neilam called you a valley girl lost in the woods."
ahh.....oh well. I guess I'll leave all the planning to the self-proclaimed camping pro's (Kavina and Roopal). I'm sure we'll have some great photo's and stories to share when we get back next Sunday. Wish us luck...and if you don't hear from us send out the rescue troops.

Calling all Birthdays!
Happy Saturday Familia!
I thought it may be a good idea to do a birthday roll call on the site (see right side bar). I know that Roopal's birthday is in August :), and Roopal thinks she and Neepa share a birthday, but can you all let me know all the other family August birthday's out there? I listed Neepa's birthday as August 11th, but if that isn't correct, please let me know!
Don't be shy about getting older - it's happening to all of us, so let me know the date of your special day!!

Cloud 9
While I'm sitting in reality (in my office at Emory Healthcare), my mind has drifted into the sky and is on cloud 9. I don't know how many times I have already viewed Sonal and Justin's pictures from the wedding. I guess I'm trying very hard to re-live the wedding weekend. Please continue to post pics. :o)
Newlywed Update - Parth and I plan on finishing his move to my condo this evening. I've been staying at his house for the past few days since getting back from MI. Since we're not going on our honeymoon for another couple months we'll be heading to Callaway Gardens (Pine Mtn, GA), tomorrow, for a weekend getaway. I'll post pictures next week!
Next week we'll be working on Project Organization. The registry boxes are piled up and Parth's things are scattered all over the guest room. I guess it's time for me to say goodbye to my purse and shoe closet space!

The Family Banner
I'm sure you all are wondering why I am posting yet once again on this thing - I would like to lie to you and pretend I have much better things to do today, but I cannot tell such a fib!
I actually have gotten a couple of inquires on the "Family Banner" or the header on this blog :). These are all photos that have been taken throughout the past year and a half. I have gotten most people to willingly take a photo of themselves with their beautiful tongues sticking out - suprisingly enough, it was quite easy to convince our family members to do so. And, by the way, for those that are wondering, Tinu Kaka is sticking his tongue out, it is NOT a golf ball in his mouth :)!!
So, if you would like to contribute a photo of your beautiful selves with your tongue sticking out, please forward a picture to my gmail account listed in the first blog post. If you don't send me one, don't fret...I am sure I will get one of you sooner or later!!!!

Charth's Wedding Weekend Photos
I think everyone can access Picasa Web Albums without a gmail account - however, if you cannot, let me know, and I'll try to work something out! These are some (like over 350) pictures from the weekend! Have fun flipping through them - there are some good ones. We got a little camera happy it seems.

Welcome to the Amin Family Blog
Due to overwhelming demands this past weekend, I have started the Amin family blog! I hope that this can become a way that our ever growing family can keep in touch and help us all keep abreast on the what, when, how, who, etc. in our lives. I will be giving each of you "rights" to post what you wish on this site - all I need is your email address that you would want me to use (send your preferred email address to sonalowings@gmail.com).
I hope to get some pictures up from this past weekend sometime today. Just waiting on the hubby to finish an interview with CNBC so he can help me out a bit :o). As soon as I get your privileges to post, you'll be able to post pics, blogs, etc. as much as you like as well (I may post a tutorial on how to do it after I learn how to do it myself).
I hope everyone made it home safe and had a chance to rest from a very hectic but fun weekend.
Love,
Sonal
